Polly Yang (Team Justice)

My name is Polly Yang. I am a second-year student and have already found myself heavily involved in student life on campus. Primarily, I serve as Co-President of the TMU chapter of Swab the World, a non-profit organization dedicated to diversifying the stem cell registry so that cancer patients of all ethnicities have a better chance of receiving life-saving donations.

This represents my core values: standing up for underrepresented communities and doing everything in my power to help others.

Other ways I have contributed to student life are as a Tax Preparer for International Student Support and as an O-Week volunteer for orientation. In these roles, I have always made sure to let students know of any resources that can help them and make myself available to advise where I can. This sentiment carries over; I am always open to hearing the needs of my peers and offering personal or university resources that might work for their scenario.

I also currently serve as the Finance Manager for the Literary Salon, applying key skills for my professional development. I am an accounting student with CPA aspirations, so following rules and regulations will always be of utmost importance to me. Purposeful mismanagement of funds would go directly against not only my personal beliefs but also my professional ethics.

I promise to listen to students’ concerns and to do everything in my power to best serve students at TMU. Thank you for considering me for Vice President of Student Life. Justice for the TMSU!
