Nabeel Mansuri (Independent)

My name is Nabeel Mansuri, and I’m running for Faculty Director for the School of Medicine because I care deeply about the kind of community we are building together. I came into medicine as a mature student, a South Asian Muslim, and a child of immigrants, carrying with me years of navigating institutions that didn’t always reflect or understand people like my family. Those experiences shaped how I show up: with empathy, accountability, and a commitment to making sure no one feels invisible.

Much of my life before medical school was spent supporting others, whether it was helping my mother navigate the healthcare system, leading a food hamper program during COVID-19, or working in air ambulance oversight at the Ontario Ministry of Health. These roles taught me that real change happens when we listen honestly, speak up when it’s uncomfortable, and build solutions with our communities.

As Faculty Director, I want to help create a medical school environment where students feel safe to speak about their challenges, where our diverse journeys are recognized, and where decisions are shaped by genuine student voices. I’m running because I want us to build a School of Medicine that reflects who we are: resilient, diverse, and deeply committed to care.
