My name is Mustafa Chaudhry, and I am a second-year Computer Science student in the Faculty of Science. I am running to be your next Vice President Equity because I believe every student at TMU deserves to feel safe, supported, and valued, regardless of their background, identity, or financial situation.
Through my experience in student leadership, campus operations, and supporting student groups, I have seen how equity challenges affect students in real and meaningful ways. Issues such as food insecurity, inaccessibility across events and communications, financial pressure, and the lack of support for equity-seeking groups show up in our everyday lives. These problems are not inevitable. They can be addressed with stronger advocacy, better structures, and a TMSU that prioritizes every student.
A key part of my platform is expanding food security initiatives by strengthening existing programs and making emergency grants easier to access. No student should be forced to compromise their well-being to succeed academically. I also want to ensure accessibility is built into everything the TMSU does. Events, services, and communications must be designed so that students with disabilities, neurodiverse students, and commuters can fully participate without barriers.
Supporting equity-seeking student groups is another priority for me. These groups are essential in creating community and driving meaningful change, and they deserve stable funding, meaningful training, and stronger institutional support so they can continue their work effectively.
I am also committed to launching campus-wide campaigns against discrimination, including racism, gender-based discrimination, ableism, and harm toward 2SLGBTQ+ communities. Students deserve a campus where respect, safety, and dignity are non-negotiable.
I am running because I want equity to be reflected in real, tangible improvements. With your support, I hope to help build a campus where every student feels seen, heard, and able to thrive.
