Faizan Ansari (Team Forward)

My name is Faizan Ansari, and I am running to be the next President of the TMSU because students deserve a union that is transparent, accountable, and truly connected to the people it serves. For the past two years, I have served as the Residence Council President, where I oversaw a $60,000 annual budget, led major student-driven events, and expanded engagement. I have worked directly with TMU Housing, Residence Life, campus staff, and hundreds of students building strong relationships and a proven track record of leadership, communication, and results. My experience has shown me something clear: students are tired of not knowing where their money goes and tired of decisions being made without them. I am running to change that.

My priorities are simple:

Radical Transparency: Monthly spending updates, open budget breakdowns, and accessible meeting minutes. Advocating for Engineering Students to Get a Fall Reading Week: Engineering students face some of the heaviest workloads at TMU, and it’s time they receive the same mental-health break and academic balance that other faculties already have. I will push for meaningful, faculty specific reforms to make this a reality. Better Academic & Career Support: Stronger advocacy for co-ops, internships, and real employer engagement on campus. Fixing Student Group Funding: Faster approvals, less confusion, and a fair system that supports clubs instead of slowing them down. More Community & Inclusion: Events and initiatives that reflect our diverse student body not just a select few. I’m not running for a title. I’m running because TMU students deserve a union that works for them, listens to them, and represents them with integrity.

Let’s rebuild trust. Let’s move forward together!!
