Hello Faculty of Science,
My name is Amitoz Banga, and I am a Third(3)-Year Computer Science Co-op student running for one of the two(2) Faculty of Science Director positions under the slate AB^2 with my running partner, Alex Banoub. I am a very organized, responsible, and open-minded student with a long track record of experience working with people through student groups, work, and school.
A bit of backstory about myself: over the first half of my bachelor’s degree, I have participated in numerous extracurricular activities and volunteered throughout TMU and the broader Toronto area. Over the past few years, I have worked closely with the Computer Science department and multiple student groups, as well as other Faculties. In my first year, I joined the STEM Fellowship as a faculty representative, and I was subsequently promoted to VP of Operations in the following year. In the following year, I was also appointed Deputy Second-Year Representative in the Computer Science Course Union. Alongside these two experiences in the Faculty of Science, I also joined the Sikh Student Association as an Event Associate, a role I currently hold. The SSA is presently ratified under the TMSU, so I am familiar with how TMSU operations are run alongside the Faculty of Science. Currently, I serve as the VP Operations of the Computer Science Course Union, Computer Science Director, and Deputy VP Operations for the Undergraduate Science Society of Toronto Metropolitan. I have hosted and helped host events such as USSTM Student Recognition Night, USSTM’s SAGM, and CSCU’s Bar Night, which have attracted 50 to over 150 attendees.
I am running for TMSU because, like my Slate partner Alex Banoub, I want to ensure that TMSU remains accountable, transparent, and effective in its support of students.
