Abdullah Saiyid (Focus)

My name is Abdullah, and I’m running to be your Science Faculty Representative on the TMSU Board of Directors.

Science students face unique challenges: overloaded lab schedules, limited research opportunities, and constant pressure to balance grades, work, and life. I’m running because I believe we deserve a students’ union that actually understands this reality and fights for it.

If elected, I will focus on three priorities:
1. Better labs & learning conditions
Pushing for safer, better-equipped labs, fair lab capacities, and clearer communication around lab schedules, evaluations, and accommodations.
2. Research, careers & co-op support
Advocacy for expanding support for RA opportunities, science-focused networking events, and real career prep (CV workshops, grad school support, industry panels).
3. Health, equity & community
Advocating for realistic workloads, accessible mental health supports, and more funding for science student groups, conferences, and competitions so every student can participate, not just those who can afford it.

On the Board, I’ll be a visible, approachable, and accountable representative: holding regular office hours, sharing what’s happening at TMSU, and taking your concerns straight to the table.

If you want a rep who listens, follows up, and doesn’t disappear after elections, I’m asking for your vote.

Vote Abdullah Saiyed for Science Faculty – A voice that actually shows up.
