My name is Zain Baig, I am a fifth-year BTM Co-op student committed to finding innovative, student-focused ways to elevate the TMU student experience. I founded TMU’s Literary Salon, TMU Basketball Society, and the TMSU Street Team Marketing Project. All of which I built from the ground up by hiring executive teams, managing operations, and ensuring they serve students first.

My leadership style is rooted in Servant Leadership: I believe the role of a president is to uplift others, empower their ideas, and create an environment where every student can grow both personally and professionally.

Through my leadership, I have launched impactful initiatives, including a free marketing and promotion platform for Campus Groups and Course Unions, a free library in the SCC, free drop-in basketball at the MAC Varsity Court, multiple charity fundraisers, and a student-run literature and artwork publishing program.

I also bring professional experience from my Co-op at Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, where I managed over $20 million in funds with integrity and led company-wide multicultural initiatives. At TRSM, I have served with the TRSS as a Street Team member, DECA/TRACE Marketing Associate, 2x Commerce Frosh Leader, and hosted a Fireside Chat with Medcan’s Director of Digital Transformation & Innovation for the Ted Rogers Technology Prep Program.

After witnessing the past issues and corruption within the TMSU, I know things have to change. The President must lead with a clear understanding of what students are experiencing daily. This means advocacy for pressing issues like Bill 33 and OSAP cuts, investing in student wellbeing through a napping space, and affordability by creating a job portal that connects students with meaningful employment opportunities.

This vision will be delivered through our 5-step Action Plan. Justice for the TMSU!
