My name is Joseph Yoosefi, and I am running for President of the Toronto Metropolitan Students’ Union because students deserve a union they can trust, rely on, and feel connected to.

For many students, university is about more than classes. It is about affordability, community, opportunity, and knowing that someone is truly advocating for you. I am running because I want TMSU to be more visible, more accountable, and more responsive to the real needs of students.

If elected, I want to focus on three things: stronger communication, practical support, and rebuilding student confidence. Students should know where their fees are going, what their union is working on, and how decisions are being made. They should also feel the impact of their students’ union through better advocacy, stronger support for student groups, meaningful events, and services that make student life easier and more affordable.

I believe leadership starts with listening. I want to hear directly from students across every faculty and year of study, understand what matters most to them, and make sure their concerns are not ignored. TMSU should not feel distant from students. It should feel accessible, transparent, and committed to serving them every day.

I am running for President because I care about this campus and the students who make it what it is. I want to help build a TMSU that is professional, student-focused, and worthy of your trust.

I would be honoured to earn your support.
