Hi everyone!

My name is Hamde Ahmed, and I’m a TRSM Business Management student at TMU running for Vice President of Student Life & Events.

As a commuter student with diverse lived experiences, including being Black, Muslim, neurodivergent, and returning to school as a mature student, I understand how challenging it can sometimes be to find connection at TMU. Many of us balance classes, work, family responsibilities, and long commutes, which can make it difficult to attend events, meet new people, or find spaces that reflect our interests and experiences. Student life should be inclusive, accessible, and welcoming, allowing every student to find a community on campus.

I’m running to help create a campus culture where student life is accessible, inclusive, and shaped by the voices of students themselves. This means collaborating with clubs, student groups, and communities across campus to create events and initiatives that reflect the diversity and energy of TMU. Students deserve leadership that is transparent, accountable, and focused on serving the community. I am committed to being a representative who listens, communicates openly, and elevates student voices.

I am already actively involved on campus and currently serve as an Advisory Member of the Student Wellbeing Advisory Group (SWAG), where I work with fellow students to bring forward recommendations that improve student wellbeing and introduce initatives on campus. Our work was nominated for the Team Leadership Award, illustrating how much impact student voices can have in decision-making.

If elected, I will be a visible, approachable, and proactive VP who students feel comfortable approaching with ideas and perspectives. I would be honoured to serve as your VP of Student Life & Events and help build a TMU where every student feels connected, represented, and proud to belong.
