Hamde Ahmed
Hi everyone!
My name is Hamde Ahmed, and I’m a TRSM Business Management student at TMU running for Vice President of Student Life & Events.
As a commuter student with diverse lived experiences, including being Black, Muslim, neurodivergent, and returning to school as a mature student, I understand how challenging it can sometimes be to find connection at TMU. Many of us balance classes, work, family responsibilities, and long commutes, which can make it difficult to attend events, meet new people, or find spaces that reflect our interests and experiences. Student life should be inclusive, accessible, and welcoming, allowing every student to find a community on campus.
I’m running to help create a campus culture where student life is accessible, inclusive, and shaped by the voices of students themselves. This means collaborating with clubs, student groups, and communities across campus to create events and initiatives that reflect the diversity and energy of TMU. Students deserve leadership that is transparent, accountable, and focused on serving the community. I am committed to being a representative who listens, communicates openly, and elevates student voices.
I am already actively involved on campus and currently serve as an Advisory Member of the Student Wellbeing Advisory Group (SWAG), where I work with fellow students to bring forward recommendations that improve student wellbeing and introduce initatives on campus. Our work was nominated for the Team Leadership Award, illustrating how much impact student voices can have in decision-making.
If elected, I will be a visible, approachable, and proactive VP who students feel comfortable approaching with ideas and perspectives. I would be honoured to serve as your VP of Student Life & Events and help build a TMU where every student feels connected, represented, and proud to belong.

Ahmmad Haidary
My name is Ahmmad Haidary, and I am a fourth-year Creative Industries student. I am committed to bringing my leadership experience, creativity, and passion for student engagement to this position to help build a more connected, inclusive, and vibrant campus community.
Through my work as Creative Director of TMU’s Literary Salon and TMU Basketball Society, I have seen firsthand how meaningful student opportunities to connect can foster belonging, strengthen community, and make campus life more fun. These experiences have shown me the importance of creating spaces where students feel welcomed, represented, and inspired to participate.
A key priority of mine is improving support for student groups and clubs. Student-led initiatives are at the heart of campus life, and they deserve consistent support, accessible funding, and efficient operational systems that help them succeed. I will advocate for smoother and faster grant processes so student leaders can focus on creating meaningful experiences for our communities.
I also want to make it easier for students to discover what is happening on campus by improving the centralization and accessibility of information about events, activities, and opportunities. No student should miss out simply because they are unaware of campus events. In addition, I want to give students opportunities to propose event ideas and vote on initiatives, giving students a stronger voice in shaping campus life.
Student life events and initiatives must reflect the realities students are facing. That means continuing to support conversations and events around urgent issues such as Bill 33 and cuts to OSAP.
I’m ready to work for you, fight for you, and bring events and initiatives that reflect the diversity, creativity, and priorities of our community at TMU. Justice for the TMSU!

Michael Horvath
I am running for this position at TMSU to help integrate jobs and events more with companies, linking the efforts you put into school into real job opportunities. This is because I believe the number one priority of the school is to not only educate us, but also connect us with companies to help secure jobs for our future.
