DESCRIPTION:The Centre for Safer Sex and Sexual Violence Support is excited to bring a somatic movement workshop to the TMU community with Shaila Khan\, registered psychotherapist (qualifying). This event is trauma-informed and open to all students who would benefit from somatic exploration in a non-judgmental spaces event. \n\n\n\nThrough guided somatic practices drawn from dance/movement therapy\, expressive arts therapy\, mindfulness\, self-compassion\, and belly dance traditions\, participants will explore how the body’s wisdom can support emotional regulation and resilience. Since then\, she has supported thousands in learning trauma-informed pleasure and inclusive consent education. \n\n\n\nIn this 2 part training workshop by Marlee Liss\, part 1 will include first-hand accounts of Restorative Justice after sexual harm and it’s comparison to the criminal legal system\, learning to distinguish between restorative and punitive processes\, while engaging in group discussion around the most common misperceptions and biases against Restorative Justice. Part 2 will include examinations of trauma-informed practices to support survivors navigating diverse experiences of justice\, learning somatic skills to support victim’s regulation and to safeguard triggers when responding to harm. We will begin marching at 11AM and arrive at the provincial Queen’s Park rally by noon.  \n\n\n\nWe encourage members to bring noisemakers and signs for yourself and others; we’ll have extra signs and other supplies on hand!
