The Toronto Metropolitan Students’ Union (TMSU) is currently seeking candidates to fill the position of Digital Media and Storytelling Lead. The position is directly supervised by the Communications Coordinator.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists in the management of the TMSU’s social media, including but not limited to Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Linkedin
  • Develop content ideas that promote TMSU departments and contributes to the TMSU mission and goals
  • Responsible to plan and schedule social media content posts via scheduling applications
  • Creating compelling and engaging content that advances our goal of making the TMSU an easily accessible and inviting place for students
  • Anticipating graphic needs and working with the TMSU graphic design request process to request and design social media content
  • Assist TMSU departments in finding creative and intentional ways to reach students
  • Triage and respond to student inquiries via social media channels to answer questions related to the health & dental plan, campus groups, lost & found and other inquiries that are received regularly
  • Responsible for taking photos at TMSU events and creating an archiving system and database for existing photos
  • Must have a strong understanding of equity and diversity issues and the role of the students’ union

Successful Candidates Will Possess

  • Experience with social media content creation and scheduling, specifically Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work within deadlines.
  • The ability to multi-task and accomplish many goals simultaneously, while under pressure is key.
  • Experience working in an office environment – knowledgeable on the systems and resources necessary to allow for the efficient operation of the office
  • Can work independently with minimal supervision but is team oriented.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Strong organisational skills with proven ability to work within deadlines and adhere to regular tasklists.
  • Must be a student at Toronto Metropolitan University.
